A Molded Part May Not Be the Final Deliverable

Many programs require a controlled operation after molding: gate or flash cleanup, hole or feature machining, insertion of hardware, joining, inspection, labeling or protective packaging. These steps change cost, datums, appearance, traceability and failure modes, so they should be evaluated during quotation—not added as an informal production instruction.

Design for the Downstream Operation

Reference Datums

A molded surface may shift or distort. Machining and inspection need a datum strategy that reflects real part behavior.

Assembly Variation

Part, purchased-component and fixture tolerances combine. Define the functional result and mistake-proofing need.

Cosmetic Protection

Each handling and transport step can mark a surface. Appearance zones and packaging controls should be visible to operators.
